Acer Liquid e to Rogers

Posted by Scott - 2010-02-23

Canada will finally be getting there much awaited Android 2 phone.  The Liquid e from Acer will be available through Rogers.  This even further confirms Rogers position as not only the Android leader in Canada, but also the overall smartphone leader in Canada.

The initial specs look like the following:

  • 3.5-inch touchscreen display,
  • 7.2Mbps 3G capability,
  • a Snapdragon 768MHz processor,
  • Wi-Fi
  • 5-megapixel camera.

No availability date has been provided, but it looks like sometime in the Spring.  Pricing is also not available, but knowing Rogers, they don't like releasing new phones outside of the $199-$299 range, so expect it to be in here (of course, 3-year contract mandatory).  Lets just hope they don't create pricing only for new customers, which they've historically done with Apple products.

Again, we are quite new here at NewPhoneInfo, so our information isn't exactly the "inside scoop".  So instead, here is a bit of a agregate view of this news announcement with some of small comments on each:

Official + Reviews - Here's the official announcement with some good video reviews.

ZDNET - Always a favourite of mine...they got a really great image of a red one.

AndroidSPIN - They make a very good point on the underpowered processor.  Seems to be a recurring theme in the smartphone world these days.  When have you heard of anyone displaying an overpowered smartphone processor?

IntoMobile - IntoMobile has a good look at the 5 acer phones being released.

NewPhoneInfo is working hard at adding these new Acer products to our site.
