Amazon readying new tablet |

On the heels of its success with the Kindle Fire, Amazon is preparing to launch a 9 inch version of the device. Pacific Crest analyst Chad Bartley told investors in a research note that the version could launch by the middle of the year. No other details were provided at that time. Bartley did predict that the larger version of the tablet would lead to an increase in Kindle Fire sales from an expected 12.7 million units to 14.9 million units. The Kindle Fire is based on the Android operating system.
