It’s About Time: HTC To Refocus Smartphone Efforts Around “Hero” Devices

Description

The HTC Hero is the first Android phone of the manufacturer to run the personalized Sense interface. It changes the overall appearance of the OS and adds a number of new features. The Hero is also the first Android phone to support Flash and is powered by a Qualcomm 528MHz processor and 288 MB RAM/512 MB ROM. Additional functionality includes a 3.5mm jack, trackball, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi. It is a quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G handset.

CNET Reviews - HTC Hero Reviews

The good: The HTC Hero offers a highly customizable user interface thanks to HTC Sense. It also improves on past Android devices with Outlook e-mail, calendar, and contacts synchronization, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 5-megapixel camera. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support are all onboard.

The bad: The smartphone can occasionally be sluggish. Flash content didn't always work from the Web browser. Apps must still be downloaded to the phone's internal memory. Media syncing software would nice, as would be a file manager.

The bottom line: While it could use a boost in the performance department, the HTC Hero is the most feature-packed Google Android device to date, bringing some notable improvements and a highly customizable interface.

Recombu - HTC Hero Reviews

The HTC Hero is superb and the best iPhone competitor we've reviewed so far. Our only disappointment is that HTC didn't use a faster processor. If you’re not bothered by the slight lag though then we couldn't recommend this phone enough.
