Description

Motorola ATRIX 4G is no other but the long-rumored Motorola Olympus - a Tegra 2-powered dual-core Android beast, which seems to be dubbed by Moto as "the world's most powerful smartphone". The Olympian of a phone will of course have a giant 4" HD screen, as well as the whooping 1GB of RAM and a monstrous 1930mAh battery to keep the whole thing alive.

Pros -Dual-core processor makes phone operate smoothly -qHD display renders sharp images and video Cons -"Laptop dock" concept poorly executed -Not running Android 2.3 Bottom Line -This dual-core phone is fast and boasts solid data speeds, but the Atrix-powered laptop accessory is a good idea poorly executed.

CNET Reviews - Motorola Atrix 4G Reviews

"The good: The Motorola Atrix 4G features a dual-core processor and a sharp qHD (quarter HD) display. The Android 2.2 smartphone has a sleek design and a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera for video calls, and an HDMI port. The bad: No 1080p HD video recording or playback at launch. You can't install non-Market third-party apps. We didn't experience great HSPA+ 4G data speeds. The bottom line: The laptop dock is a decidedly cool (and pricey) feature, but the dual-core Motorola Atrix 4G has plenty to offer on its own. The smartphone packs speed and high-end features into a sleek package and earns its place at the top of AT&T's Android lineup."

The good: The Motorola Atrix 2 has a sharp and colorful 4.3-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, HSPA+ support, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing camera, Webtop functionality, and it ships with Android 2.3. The bad: The Motorola Atrix 2 no longer has the fingerprint sensor, and there is a slight shutter lag that will not please camera enthusiasts. The bottom line: For the price, the Motorola Atrix 2 is an amazingly feature-packed high-performance Android phone for AT&T customers.

TrustedReviews - Motorola Atrix 4G Reviews

As a standalone phone, the Motorola Atrix competes well against the dual-core Android competition due to its high res screen, unique fingerprint scanner, great battery life and comfortable form factor, though is let down by a mediocre camera, some unnecessary interface tweaks and limited video support. As such, it rather depends which you prioritise. Add in its dock accessories, though, and it shines out brightly. There is something undeniably cool about having one device perform so many of your daily functions. Unfortunately these docks don't come for free and the lapdock in particular simply can't compete for functionality with a laptop, netbook or even tablet. If and when Android updates come that more comprehensively support it then it could be amazing but as it stands, it's a nice to have, not a must have.
