Description

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is the manufacturer's first Android phone. It is rather high-end, equipped with a 1GHz Snapdagon processor, 4-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 480x854 pixels and an 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus. However, its software features are just as impressing. What it adds to the Android universe is a personalized interface, called UX (from User eXperience). Basically, UX combines various entertainment and social media features.

CNET Reviews - Sony XPERIA X10 Reviews

The good: The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has a user-friendly design with a brilliant display. The feature set is generous, the internal performance is fast, and call quality is satisfactory.

The bad: The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10's data performance was spotty. The Timescape application has its faults, you must use a third-party app for Outlook calendar syncing, and the landscape keyboard doesn't work in the messaging app.

The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 offers a slick, user-friendly design with a solid feature set and good call quality. Data performance was uneven, however, and the Timescape application and keyboard miss some details.

Recombu - Sony XPERIA X10 Reviews

We’d rather hoped that Sony Ericsson would have nailed the basics by now, but text messaging and calling on the X10 left a lot to be desired. It’s a bit of a let down, especially after the long wait we’ve had for the handset to make an appearance – it was first announced almost six months ago. It’s great that Sony Ericsson is experimenting with Android OS though, and it really feels like it’s trying to do something new and exciting – it just doesn’t quite deliver with the X10. The camera and Mediascape functions did a good job, and that lovely large screen was great for media playback – but as a smartphone, the Sony Ericsson X10 just doesn’t meet the benchmark set by other Android handsets available.
